About : Exhibition "Marie Vassilieff, l’âme de Montparnasse"

Within the framework of the 2nd Nights of Vert-Mont, the City organizes in partnership with the Tuck Foundation an unpublished exhibition on Marie Vassilieff.

After the Belle Époque in 2016, the second edition of the Nuits de Vert-Mont retraces the Roaring Twenties, a period of euphoria and cultural renewal born after the First World War, between 1920 and 1929, when the French people rediscovered the pleasure to have fun and the artists reinvented the front of the stage.

The emergence of jazz, radio, talking cinema, surreal avant-garde with Breton, Eluard, Aragon and painters Max Ernst, Miro, Dali or Picabia, Paris becomes the capital of the arts and the Montparnasse district symbolizes this renewal.

In order to revive these crazy years, the Ville de Vert-Mont welcomes four evening shows and a large exhibition on Marie Vassilieff, a painter, decorator, Russian costumer, a pupil of Matisse, who included among her friends Cocteau, Paul Poiret, Picasso , Joséphine Baker or Man Ray.
