About : Guided tour of the exhibition "Malmaison, a garden of experience"

For Josephine, Malmaison was first of all a garden and she did something extraordinary. The exhibition, which will invest the orangery of Bois-Préau, in the middle of exotic plants and orange trees sheltered for the winter, aims at showing the public that two centuries after the disappearance of the empress, the art of the gardeners pursues always the dream of the "marvelous Creole" who wanted to see America grow in Malmaison. This installation will be based on three main themes: the experimentation and acclimatization garden, where seeds and seedlings came from all over the world, with a highlight of the greenhouse, to understand the importance capital of this building, unique in its kind; the domain of exploitation, with its merino breeding, inspired by the imperial sheepfold of Rambouillet; the florist garden with the work in the greenhouses to ensure the flowering of the flowerbeds and lounges.Commissariat: Dominique D'Heygère, chief gardener; Christophe Pincemaille, in charge of documentary studies.
