About : Huangshan exhibition

Huangshan or Yellow Mountains, named after the Emperor who visited them first, have always fascinated the Chinese. Painters from the 14th to the 18th centuries have made it a main source of inspiration in innumerable representations of these mountains, sometimes round, sometimes acute, with sharp peaks and vertiginous canyons.

The pines cling improbably to the walls enjoying the slightest crevice or settle conquering at the peaks, punctuating the landscape in the manner of a lace.

At night or early in the morning, these mountains sometimes mingle with mists, fogs and cloudy seas. Their appearance then becomes, as the air moves, very changeable from one second to the other and phantasmagoric. Each time new landscapes are created and disappear immediately.
