About : Promenade du Mont-Valerien et alentours

Suresnes from top to bottom, discover the city which overlooks the whole Paris!

This pedestrian walk of 11 kilometers in the heart of Suresnes takes you to the heights of the city to the discovery of an unsuspected heritage.

Your journey begins at the Suresnes-Longchamp tram stop and takes you first to the vineyards of Suresnes. The city, like other neighboring towns such as Meudon, has a long history with wine growing. Today, this vineyard of one hectare is enough to fill about 5000 bottles per year! If you wish to taste the fruit of the last harvest, know that it is possible to buy bottles at the Tourist Office of Suresnes.

Continuing your journey, you reach Mont Valérien and its Memorial of France Combattante. This monument was erected by General de Gaulle in 1960 as a tribute to the victims of the war. You then follow the Promenade Jacques Baumel around the Fort which remains to this day a military ground because of its strategic position.

You then wander through the city before reaching the Seine at the three locks of Suresnes. Did you know ? They are still in operation and allow the navigation of about 80 boats each day.

A little further you discover the English village nicknamed so because of the appearance of its houses that recalls the architecture of the suburbs of London. This ensemble was built after the Second World War in a style that is reminiscent of that of the garden cities.

Before finishing your journey by a return to the tramway, you pass through the Parc du Château where you can admire the birds in their aviary and stroll around its large pool.
