It is steeped in history ... cities. Modern, dynamic, forward-looking, they have however retained the imprint of their past.

Rueil-Malmaison is these ....

Located just 8 kilometers west of Paris and 15 minutes by the RER A towards Saint-Germain-en-Laye, this city was marked by the presence of Napoleon Bonaparte and his wife Josephine, who lived at the Château de Malmaison many years of happiness. This castle is a unique example for its consular style furniture and for its beautiful old garden roses.

The roses were part of everyday life of the Empress who, passionate about botany, built the Château de la Petite Malmaison. Fitted at the time of a large greenhouse, home to over 250 varieties of trees, plants and exotic flowers, this private residence today, offers a timeless atmosphere, hidden in a park of almost 3 hectares.

The city will remain an eternal home for Josephine land since the Church Saint-Pierre Saint-Paul, located in the heart of downtown and historic monument, houses his tomb and that of his daughter, Queen Hortense.

The late nineteenth century also left in Rueil-Malmaison other evidence of its history. This was the era of dance halls, boating on the Seine and the coming of famous painters such as Renoir, Manet and Monet, who immortalized the landscapes along the Seine from the Country of the Impressionists.

Rueil-Malmaison also has a remarkable natural heritage including through the Urban Park of 650 hectares that reveals nearly 10 km from the forest of Malmaison to the banks of the Seine, outstanding natural landscapes, well away from urban bustle.

This magnificent imperial and natural heritage is to discover, in particular through the website of the Tourist Office: www.rueil-tourisme.com
